"Why Am I Failing To Lose Weight?"

Help for Weight Loss

You having been being mindful of what you are eating and have been exercising regularly but still have not been able to lose weight.  This can be frustrating and discouraging.  Research has shown these to be the top four reasons:

1.  Most people underestimate the number of calories they consume.

2.  We overestimate the amount of activity we do and the calories burned.

What can you do?  I recommend to all of my clients who wish to lose weight or improve their nutrition is to keep a food diary. This means writing EVERYTHING down and the time of day. This includes all those little bites, and snacks too! Become aware of the calorie content and portion sizes of your choices. The time of day effects what or how much we eat. Eating breakfast every day is a must (within a hour of waking up). Eat a healthy snack or meal every 4-5 hours. This will keep your energy level up, prevent overeating and keep your metabolism going strong.

Now how to burn some of those calories? Try to increase the amount of acitivity in your day and in addtion to this get 30 minutes of MODERATE to VIGOROUS activity most days of the week. You need to get your heart pumping and your body really moving! This will help your sleep. Be sure to get more than 6 hours per night. Inadequate sleep effects your hormone levels which may lead to overeating and weight gain.

Use this information to evaluate what you have been doing and make changes to be successful this time!
