Babysitter Victim of Jewelry Theft; Fights Lead to Arrests

A motorist asking an acquaintance why he wasn’t riding the motor scooter he usually drove, apparently prompted the acquaintance to attack the motorist.

Kevin P. Joyce, 40, of 12 Livingston Pl., Greenwich was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace in connection with the late Friday night incident on Livingston Place.  Joyce is accused of repeatedly punching the motorist in the head.

He was released on a promise to appear May 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A babysitter realized some of her jewelry had been stolen when she searched for clothing in a backpack for her young charge.

The victim told Greenwich Police she discovered several pieces of jewelry in the backpack on Saturday when she went to retrieve clothing for the young child she was babysitting. Police charged the baby’s mother, identified as Jennifer Ortiz, 20, of 8 Ridge Pl., Greenwich, with 4th-degree larceny in connection with the theft.

She was released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear May 9 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Two Hamilton Avenue residents were arrested following an early Saturday afternoon fight.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Robert Bono, 63, of 104 Hamilton Ave., was arrested on disorderly conduct and assault on a person over 60 years, about 12:40 p.m. Saturday. Police also arrested Anthony J. Cardile, 21, of the same address, on the same charges.

Each was released on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Stamford.
