Cos Cob Man Makes Connecticut Magazine's '40 Under 40'

When the 39-year-old came to Connecticut 13 years ago from Latvia, with his wife and two children, "he spoke no English and didn't have a job."

Cos Cob resident Slava Frayter has been named to Connecticut Magazine’s annual “40 Under 40” listing of inspirational people.

When the 39-year-old came to Connecticut 13 years ago from Latvia, with his wife and two children, “he spoke no English and didn’t have a job,” the magazine said. After taking a job in an antiques store, then a warehouse, Frayter eventually landed a position as a shipping manager for Newtec, an international satellite communications firm based in Belgium, where he has since risen through the ranks to become vice president in charge of Newtec America.

In addition to seeking nominations for its “40 Under 40” listing from civic and business leaders, the magazine’s editors hand selected some of those honored.
