Farmer's Advice: Drink Lots Of Water And Wear Gloves

Farmer John's advice on a scorcher of a day in Greenwich is to "just keep going." Asked his secret to farming during a heat wave, he said, "Nothing special except drink a lot of water...oh, yeah, and wear gloves so you don't burn yourself on the hot metal of the tractor!"
Farmer John and Kathy say they worry more about rain than heat. "The temperature dropped from 94º to 78º in two hours last night but all I cared about was the prediction it might hail," said John.
Farmer John said he'd had to chop up a whole field of potatoes because they had gone rotten with all the recent rain. He also said he had to replant his corn fields no less than six times for the same reason. He suggests being careful what you wish for with the rain.
