ebay Saturday: Antique Postcard of Greenwich's Island Beach

Who's going to bid on this antique postcard of Greenwich's Island Beach, dating back to the 1930s?

Welcome to the weekend Greenwich!

Too cold to venture outside for tag sales?

Well, here's some help for armchair shoppers. Today Greenwich Patch launches a new column — "eBay Saturday." Each week, I'll search the term "Greenwich, CT" on the popular auction site eBay and see what pops up, and post it for Patch readers to see (and perhaps bid on). Maybe you have a Greenwich-related item — a postcard, a milk bottle from the old Round Hill Farms, a menu from the former Manero's steakhouse. If you do and want to sell it, you can click on your submit your photo or videos button above.

Given the sudden wintry blast of winds this weekend, the inaugural item, selected from dozens available, is a classic postcard showing what the seller describes as a "1930s Connecticut postcard Island Beach Greenwich CT Refreshment Stand." The long-skirted woman and pavilions give a totally different perspective to the popular beach off the Greenwich coastline, well — except for the lounging sunbathers with their chairs and beach umbrellas.

We're not vouching for the authenticity of the item ... it's buyer beware. At the very least, ebay Saturday will give you a trip down Memory Lane!

The bidding starts at $4.99. And the auction closes shortly after 3 p.m., Jan. 16.
