Family Fun at St. Catherine's Carnival in Riverside

Since the 1950s, the St. Catherine's Carnival of Fun has been drawing thousands of residents to Riverside where children and adults alike can enjoy an evening of family fun.

And this year isn't any different—other than there are more rides and food selections, including the huge pizza frittas that volunteers fry in large vats of hot oil. Carnival Chair Fred Durante said the cool, sunny evenings are expected to keep the crowds coming to the midway set up across the street from the church on Riverside Avenue.

This year there will be a bus shuttle for carnival visitors who park at the nearby Eastern Middle School on Hendrie Avenue, Durante said.

The carnival runs from 6 to 11 p.m. through Aug. 17. Admission to the carnival is free.
