Greenwich Settles Lawsuit with Two Former Town Employees

Board of Selectmen has reportedly approved a $58,059 settlement with Adina Goldstein, former deputy commissioner of social services, and $20,000 settlement with Casey O'Donnell, former zoning enforcement officer, who lost their jobs in 2010.

The Town of Greenwich has reportedly settled a lawsuit with two former town employees who lost their jobs in 2010.

As per a report in the Greenwich Time, the Board of Selectmen on Thursday approved a $58,059 settlement with Adina Goldstein, the former Deputy Commissioner of , and a $20,000 settlement with Casey O'Donnell, the town's former zoning enforcement officer.

According to the report Goldstein started serving as acting commissioner following the departure of Commissioner Victoria Anyikwa in December 2009. While Goldstein was serving in that interim role, the Board of Estimate and Taxation eliminated the his former deputy commissioner position. The Town then hired Alan Barry as commissioner in August 2010, putting Goldstein out of a job.

Casey O'Donnell resigned from the zoning enforcement officer post in the summer of 2010, according to the report. O'Donnell was in the final week of a six-month probationary period, and facing a demotion, it states. At that time Jodi Couture was appointed acting zoning enforcement officer.

First Selectman Peter Tesei declined to discuss details of the lawsuit with the Greenwich Time.
