Hey Greenwich! Did You Know ... It'll Be All Things Française?

Oh-la-la! There's a Greenwich party planned for Bastille Day.

Today is Friday, July 13, 2012 and it's not only National French Fries Day, it's also National Franks-n-Beans Day.

Today's birthdays:

In 1978, Ford Motor Co. chairman Henry Ford II fired Lee Iacocca as Ford's president, ending years of tension between the two men.

You can 'can-can,' sip champagne and sing the Marseillaise and more at the inaugural Bastille Day celebration being orchestrated by restauranteur and champion of the Food Network's 'Chopped' program and the .

There's still time to get tickets for —that will close down Lewis Street from Greenwich Avenue and Mason Street, from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be French " barbecue" at the Cafe Can-Can with chef Jean-Louis Lebreton, a la carte dining at Le Bistro Parisien, French wine, a Bastille Day cake (compliments of the ) and dancing in the street with folks from the , local live bands.

While not required, Bastille Day attire (bleu/blanc/rouge) is definitely encouraged.

If you can't make it Saturday night, there's the annual raising of the French flag at Greenwich Town Hall at 8 a.m. Saturday, with members of the local French community and First Selectman Peter Tesei.
