Meet Poky - A Terrier In Need of a Home

Greenwich Animal Control's Featured Adoptable Pet.

*Editor's note: Welcome to Patch Pets, a new weekly feature about the animals available for adoption from the Greenwich Animal Control Shelter.

Meet Poky. Named in honor of the polka-dots that fleck his coat, this black-and-white mixed-breed is defined along the lines of Jack Russell and rat terrier. Though Poky is more than seven-years-old, and therefore considered a senior, he is energetic and agile. Both neutered and in good health, Poky is housebroken and walks nicely on a leash.

With Poky’s luck, he arrived at Greenwich Animal Control in June, just in time for the grand opening of the new North Street facility. Discovered roaming in western Greenwich’s Pemberwick area, neighbors contacted animal control and, per procedure, officers advertised the “found” animal and trolled the neighborhood for “lost dog” posters. When the search for Poky’s owner failed, he became legally available for adoption.

Now, quite relaxed, behaved, and weighing under 20 pounds, Poky’s already seen a couple of his pals get adopted and wonders when it’ll be his turn. Poky will steal your heart with his winning disposition and happy smile and would make a fitting companion to someone who seeks an apprentice to putter around the house with.

Please call Animal Control at (203) 622-8299 to arrange to meet Pokey. The facility is at 393 North St. Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
