Mighty Tasty — The 2012 Greenwich Food+Wine Festival

You definitely needed a good appetite to enjoy the 2012 Greenwich Food+Wine Festival.

With the smell of barbeque, Indian food, burgers and steak wafting through the onshore breezes in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, it was pretty tough not to feel hungry on Saturday, or for that matter, thirsty.

Hundreds of folks knoshed, drank and knoshed some more at the Greenwich 2012 Food+Wine Festival organized by Serendipity magazine. Proceeds of yesterday's event—the culmination of the three-day festival—benefited Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp program for seriously ill children. The evening was capped off with a concert by rock and blues singer Gregg Allman and his band.

There was a 'Culinary Village' with delectable tastings and demonstrations from more than 90 food, wine and spirit vendors, along with celebrity chef and sommelier demonstrations, celebrity book signings, a beer garden, a BBQ Pit Masters presented by John Stage, and a burger battle featuring local restaurants. Participating in the burger battle were The Cos Cobber, Dan Rooney's Pub, The Ginger Man, My Favorite Place and Shake Shack.

And there were plenty of wines and liquors from regional vendors as well as beers from microbreweries to sate the thirsty.
