Navy SEAL Brian Bill Remembered at Candlelight Vigil [ Video]

More than 100 local and state politicians, veterans, and members of the Stamford community attended a tear-filled vigil for Brian Bill, a Navy SEAL from Stamford who was killed Aug. 6 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Family, friends, and classmates of fallen Navy SEAL Brian Bill, as well as local and state representatives were present at Trinity Catholic High School Saturday evening to attend a vigil for Bill, 31, who was killed in Kabul, Afghanistan on Aug. 6.

Members of VFW posts from across Connecticut also attended the two-hour event that began at 7:30 p.m., and while many of the veterans did not know Bill personally, they showed a fervent amount of support for Bill and his family.

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes of Cos Cob and Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia spoke at the vigil, praising Bill's character and sacrifice, but the most moving speech of the evening was from Rev. Richard Futie, one of Bill's childhood mentors, who nearly wept as he spoke of the day that Bill told him that he wished to join the military.
