Parrotta Gets 12 Years For Screwdriver Stabbing

Former Byram man sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after 12 years served, in connection with 2009 stabbing incident.

Michael Parrotta, the former Byram man found guilty of first degree assault, , for viciously stabbing his ex-wife, Lorraine Sykes, with a sharpened screwdriver on April 2, 2009, was reportedly sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after 12 years served, and five years probation at state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday.

In addition Judge Richard Comerford issued a 20-year restraining order that prohibits Parrotta from having any contact with Sykes, according to a report in the Greenwich Time.

Sykes, who was present at the sentencing, told the court she fears Parrotta will attack her again, according to the report.

The state charged Parrotta with attempted murder and first degree assault in connection with the incident — however at his , where of what occurred were given by Parrotta and Sykes when they testified, Comerford issued a ruling of not guilty on the attempted murder charge.
