What: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Details: Dust off your ‘50s-inspired swing attire or grease your hair into a pompadour and head out to see this animated ensemble. You’ll jump and jive to horns, keys, guitars and some memorable little tunes. The $80 ticket includes an open bar from 7-8 p.m.

What: Free Anusara Yoga

Details: Get your stretch on with a complimentary anusara-style yoga class taught by Ann Brett at this popular local yoga-and-fitness boutique. It’s a great way to chill out and lengthen the muscles. Mats are limited, so if you have one, bring one.

What: Fish, Fish Fish (cooking class)
When: Wednesday, Jan. 11, 7-9 p.m.

Details: At this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn about fish flavors, textures, and cooking techniques. Students will create one-dish baked bass with potatoes, garlic, and rosemary; roasted cod with leeks and bacon; and gingered salmon burgers. Cost is $90.

What: The Birth of the Decorative Arts: China, Persia & Rome
When: Monday, Jan. 9; 1 p.m.

Details: Greenwich Antiques Society and Connecticut Ceramics Study Circle presents a lecture with Robert Mowry, The Alan J. Dworsky Curator of Chinese Art and Head of the Department of Asian Art at the Harvard Art Museums. A tea reception follows. CCSC and Antiques Society members free, non-members $20. What: Larry King: Standing Up!

Details: Okay, so this technically isn’t a January event, but tickets are sure to go fast the one-night showcase with broadcasting journalism bigwig Larry King. This standup presentation promises to include nostalgic tales of King’s childhood in Brooklyn as well as dispatches from his career.
