UPDATE: Robbers Accosted Victim After Entering Unlocked Greenwich Home

Greenwich Police say a pair of men demanded money from the victim and bound her hands and feet before fleeing.

Updated: 9 a.m. Jan. 30:
Greenwich Police say the pair of masked robbers who accosted a woman in her downtown Greenwich home this week, entered through an unlocked front door.

Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said, the woman, in her 60s, was confronted by two white men in their 20s or 30s, wearing dark clothing and ski masks who demanded money mid-afternoon Jan. 28. "It appears that this was a targeted incident ... it was not a random act," Gray said. One of the robbers had a handgun, Gray said.

He added, "The reason needs to be determined by investigators."

The pair demanded money from the victim who was punched in the face when she couldn't comply, Gray said. She suffered minor injuries. The thugs when tied up the woman's hands and feet and left her in a second-floor bedroom of her East Elm Street home before "going through the house, looking for money," Gray said.

Some cash was stolen, but Gray would not say how much. Police were called when the victim's daughter returned home about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

Gray said police are investigating several tips called in to police. He also said investigators are working on how the robbers fled the area and whether there is surveillance video from the area that may help identify the suspects.
