Want jaw-dropping-good hair? In a sea of Fairfield County stylists, the best are those can magically transform ordinary tresses into eye-catching creations. Here are a few of our local favorites in or near Greenwich:

Dena Gardella (Pirri International Hair Group, 181 Greenwich Ave., 2nd Floor, Greenwich; 203-869-4500): Lots of hair stylists can adorn a head with foils, but eight-year hair industry vet Dena truly has an eye for color and creativity. The Connecticut-born hair maven strives to give her clients hair color that stands out but still looks natural – a gorgeous shade that that has its own personality.

Kim Sclafani (Hopscotch Salon, 10 Railroad Ave., Greenwich; 203-661-0107): Armed with years of experience – including 17 at Hopscotch Salon -- the senior colorist and color educator at Hopscotch is also a L’Oreal Professional ‘Balayage’ artist who uses the French technique to create sexy, beachy color sported by celebs like Jessica Beal. Kim’s lifelong passion for the hair industry is rooted in her childhood, and her greatest strength is to tailor the right color to myriad of clients who sit in her chair day in and day out.

Elle Kinney (Franklin Philip Salon, 56 Westport Ave., Norwalk; 203-840-1999): Up-and-coming freelance colorist and stylist (and NYC Fashion Week vet) Elle splits her time between Fairfield County and Manhattan. Though she is younger than many of her peers, she is known for giving clients the best version of themselves, whether it’s radiant, eye-catching blondes, rich, shimmering brunettes, or everything in between. Interested in getting your hair done in your own home for a special occasion? E-mail elle.k.kinney@gmail.com to reach her.

Alexandre Chouery (Frédéric Fekkai Salon, 2 Lewis Court, Greenwich; 203-861-6700): Known for his charm and celebrity clientele (Monica Bellucci, Salma Hayak and Hugh Jackman, just to name a few) the creative director of Fekkai’s Greenwich branch creates head-turning, flattering, glamorous looks for women and men. Chouery, who honed his skills in Paris with training at both the Private Academy of Marciel Lamy and Jacque Dessange, channels his 15 years of experience into creating styles that suit clients’ unique personalities.

Piero Pirri (Pirri International Hair Group, 181 Greenwich Ave., 2nd Floor, Greenwich; 203-869-4500): Born and raised in Italy, Piero specializes in high-fashion haircuts that grow out to perfection – retaining their shape even after six months! Piero’s popularity has grown in Greenwich by word-of-mouth since he opened his eponymous salon with his hair stylist brother Luigi a few years ago. Pirri’s past celebrity clients have included Regis Philbin and Diana Ross.

Jennifer Lopez ((Hopscotch Salon, 10 Railroad Ave., Greenwich; 203-661-0107): A senior hair stylist who shares the name of a pop star with equally gorgeous hair, Jennifer’s forte is haircutting but her attention to detail and technical prowess lend themselves to great styling, too. A vet of the Paris-London-Milan circuit, Jennifer has styled hair for weddings, proms and local parties. She’s also skilled at hair relaxing with safe, Keratin-based treatments.

Kim Sclafani is one of the most talented hair color specialist that I have ever known. Her skills for color correction are beyond reality. She can transpose a before and after look that would knock your socks off.

Kim Sclafani is so beautiful and takes pride in herself and therefore passes her technique to her clients. She listens to what the client wants and pays attention to detail.

Kim is truly an artist at work. I have seen her transform a bad hair day to a wonderful, beautiful "me". She takes a lot of thought prior to applying color and/or correction so that the client leaves her chair looking and feeling wonderful!

I've been searching, I finally found Kim Sclafani at her new color studio. It's called The Color Cafe Hair Studio, obviously a color specialty salon. Which makes sense to me, I wouldn't go to the dentist to get my car fixed. lol It's located at Benedict Place in Greenwich, I'm not sure about the number, maybe 26, or 23. You'll find it, there's a pretty round sign out front. I think she's even better than before.. Thanks Kim!!!
