Thunderstorms Could Bring Hail Tonight [VIDEO]

The National Weather Service issues a hazardous weather outlook for our area.


While thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon and evening are expected to bring some much-needed rain, there is also potential for strong winds, hail and dangerous lightning.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook that warns of the potential dangers of the storm.

"The thunderstorms may produce damaging winds 58 mph or greater ... or hail the size of quarters or larger," the NWS reports. "Frequent lightning and heavy rainfall may accompany the thunderstorms."

The first round of storms hit Greenwich about 12:30 and 1:15 p.m., with strong wind gusts, drenching downpours and frequent lightning. While temperatures dropped about 10 degrees into the high 80s, the humidity has become even more oppressive. The second round passed through town about 3 p.m. with torrential rains, with steady more soaking rains continuing through early evening.
