A married Naugatuck couple who are wheelchair-bound will finally get a handicap ramp, enabling them to get in and out of their mobile home, after a lengthy battle with their landlord. The landlord, Gerry Genrdon, originally did not want them to install the structure but changed his tune after the story became known statewide.
Donald and Robin Paul, who live in a mobile home park at 108 Clark Hill Rd., took their plight to WTNH Channel 8, whose Count on 8 campaign helped by creating statewide buzz about their struggles. Almost a month after their story originally aired, Gendron recanted, saying he will now allow the ramp.
The couple, who met with Naugatuck Patch earlier this month, was esctatic and thanked Channel 8 for their coverage. The ABC affiliate aired the good news on Wednesday, the day after Christmas.
