Letter: Krumeich 'Has Everything It Takes to Be Outstanding 1st Selectman

To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse my wife Beth Krumeich for First Selectman.

That hardly is surprising.  A candidate’s spouse almost always endorses her or his spouse for election and tells everyone what a wonderful spouse, parent, and humanitarian he or she has married.  Beth is all of that—and more.

I have known Beth since we attended college together.  Beth is a proven leader.  While a student at Kirkland College, formerly coordinated with Hamilton College, then Beth Kneisel became the first female editor of our college newspaper, The Spectator.  Beth served as a Trustee of Kirkland College and was the first Kirkland alumna to become a trustee of Hamilton College.  Later, Beth served as a member of The Hamilton Alumni Council and President of the Hamilton Fairfield Alumni Association, as well as a member of the Miss Porter’s Alumnae Board.

Beth moved to Greenwich 29 years ago when we married.  While practicing full-time as a corporate attorney, Beth has also been an active community volunteer.  She is past president of the League of Women Voters. She won the Brava! Award from the YWCA for her work in organizing the Residents Council at Wilbur Peck Court, which also won a national award for the Greenwich Housing Authority.  Beth was very active in our daughters’ education at Greenwich public schools.  She was Co-President of the North Street School PTA and was also an active member of the PTAs of CMS and GHS from which our daughters graduated.  Beth served as Secretary of the Board of the Junior League.  She was a co-leader of our daughters’ Girl Scout troop and an assistant soccer coach.

An accomplished attorney and an award-winning volunteer, a wonderful mother and loving spouse, Beth is already an extraordinary person who has everything it takes to become an outstanding First Selectman.

Please join me in voting for Beth Krumeich on November 5.
