Malloy Makes Reelection Campaign Stop in Greenwich

About 125 local Democrats attended the Sunday afternoon fund-raiser.

Gov. Dannel Malloy brought his reelection campaign to backcountry Greenwich where an estimated 125 local Democrats showed their support — and money — for the incumbent.

The Sunday afternoon fund-raising reception was hosted by Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation member John Blankley and his wife Vera. All six Democratic members of the BET attended as well as Democratic Board of Education Vice Chair Jennifer Dayton and member Debbie Appelbaum, several Representative Town Meeting members, and Frank Farriker, chair of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee.

Malloy talked about the need for universal pre-kindergarten education, as well as the importance of continuing his efforts of job creation and reducing crime.

"The governor was energetic, funny and engaging," said Democratic Selectman Drew Marzullo. "I know coming from me it is going to sound predictable but with that said when someone honestly evaluates his record and accomplishments over the last four challenging years it will be hard to dispute."

Marzullo added, "My plan is to continue to do what I can to see to it he is re elected in November."

Malloy also stressed the need for Democrats to push for a large voter turnout in November, especially in a non-Presidential election year.

Not to be outdone by the Democrat, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Tom Foley of Greenwich is having a Cinco de Mayo fund-raiser Monday evening at the Round Hill Community House, co-chaired by Leslie Foley, Sally Lawrence, Leora Levy and Audrey McNeff.
