Contest includes new award for Best Freshman Film judged by actress Amanda Seyfried, $4,000 in cash prizes

Express yourself through the art of film!  If you are a high school student in Fairfield or Westchester Counties, and have produced an original film, enter it in the Greenwich Youth Film Festival.  The top films will be shown at the Greenwich Youth Film Festival on Sunday, May 5, and the winners will be awarded cash prizes.

The deadline for entering the contest is February 8, 2013.  Students can enter a film in one of five categories – Creative, Documentary, Music Video, Animation and Public Service Announcement.  The Greenwich Youth Film Festival is sponsored by the Junior League of Greenwich, in partnership with Greenwich Library.  Visit www.jlgreenwich.org for more information and entry materials.

Actress Amanda Seyfried and president of Island Def Jam Music Group, Steve Bartels, will join the returning lineup of judges from last year.  Seyfried will select the winner of the new Best Freshman Film Award.  All film submissions from freshman students will be considered for this award, which was added to give first year high school students a greater chance to win.  The winner will receive $250 and a trophy.  Bartels will judge the Music Video genre.

A total of $4,000 in cash prizes will be awarded.  The student whose film is selected as the best overall entry across all genres will be awarded the Grand Prize of $1,000.  Winners of the other genres will each be awarded $500.  An award of $100 will be given to all second place genre winners, and an award of $50 will be given to all third place genre winners.  Blue Sky Studios is providing a
tour of its facilities to the Animation genre winner.
