Board of Educaton Debate

Board of Education Debate.  The six Board of
Education candidates will participate in a debate on Tuesday, October 29 at
Eastern Middle School, just one week before Election Day. 



 



The debate is being
hosted by three neighborhood associations: 
Riverside, Old Greenwich, and Cos Cob Associations.  All Greenwich voters are invited to
attend.   The debate will start at 7
pm.  Doors open at 6:30 pm.

Riverside resident Julie
K Faryniarz, a Riverside resident, will moderate the debate.  Faryniarz is executive director of the
Greenwich Alliance for Education, a not-for-profit organization that supports
education in Greenwich.

Following opening statements by the Candidates, the Moderator will
pose questions that have been developed with input from members of the
neighborhood associations.  Candidates
will have 1 ½ minutes to answer each question, followed by one minute
responses, rebuttals, or clarifications. 



 



Following closing statements from the Candidates, the Candidates
will be invited to remain in the hall to meet members of the audience.



 



Three Republicans and three Democrats are vying for four openings
on the Board of Education.  The top two
Republican and top two Democratic candidates will win four year terms on the
Board. 



 



The Republican candidates are, Peter Bernstein, Brian Peldunas, and Peter Sherr.  The Democrats are Debbie Appelbaum, Samarpana
Tamm, and Laura Erickson.



 



Election Day is Tuesday,
November 5.
