ISD HOSTS INFORMATION SESSION FOR FAMILIES INTERESTED IN FALL 2014 ENROLLMENT

Families interested in applying to The International School

at Dundee (ISD) for the 2014-15 academic year are invited to attend an informational session detailing ISD’s International Baccalaureate program curriculum
and application procedures and deadlines.
The hour-long session is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2014, at 7:00pm, in the ISD

Media Center, will be held at ISD, located at 55 Florence Road in Riverside, CT.  (NOTE:
Snow date Tuesday, January 28, 2014,
7:00pm.)

According to Teresa Ricci, ISD
principal, “Studies have shown a strong correlation between what the International
Baccalaureate program offers and what experts have identified as 21st century
skills.  It also strongly supports the
teaching of the Common Core Standards.”

The International Baccalaureate’s
trans-disciplinary approach to teaching incorporates skills with concepts that
cross all disciplines to develop an educated, whole person.  This approach also includes the teaching of
character profiles, community service and the teaching of a foreign language.

Spanish is taught at ISD starting in
kindergarten.  ISD’s instructional
program also is enriched with grade-specific partnerships with cultural
institutions, such as the New York Botanical Gardens, The Guggenheim Museum and
Connecticut Ballet, which are incorporated into the curriculum, starting in
kindergarten and running through fifth grade.

The
International School at Dundee was authorized in July of 2003 as an official

International Baccalaureate school.  ISD is one of approximately 200 IB

Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) authorized schools in the U.S, and one of only
a few public elementary schools in Connecticut to receive the IBPYP

accreditation.  ISD offers this program to students from kindergarten through

fifth grade.
