Second Congregational Church Homecoming Weekend

Second Congregational Church welcomes the community to its

annual homecoming festivities Friday, Sept. 6 - Sunday, Sept. 8, at the church. 

The celebration will kick off Friday, Sept. 6, with a
musical program from 7:30-9 p.m. on the Mead House lawn, behind the church. Church

Music Director Alexander Constantine, Grammy-nominated vocalist Caroline Worra,
and vocalist and guitarist Kreg Gotschall will present “From Tosca to Taylor” –
an evening of opera, Broadway and other popular music. Bring a picnic
supper.   

On Saturday, Sept. 7, from 5-6 p.m. on the church lawn, the Bossy Frog Band will provide an
interactive program for children, encouraging them to listen and participate
with their imaginations, voices and movement. The band includes a banjo,
guitar, bass, violin, saxophone, trumpet, piano, mandolin, flute, accordion,
drums and Latin percussion instruments.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, worship services are scheduled for 8:30

and 10 a.m. under a tent. The Rev. Maxwell Grant, Senior Minister, will preach
on Genesis 1. “And God saw that it was good.”

After the second service, a barbecue luncheon will be held

from about 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A bouncy house and an ice cream truck will add
to the fun.

"The church has had a great summer, with our biggest Vacation Bible School yet and a phenomenal Youth Choir trip to Memphis and Nashville, where we sang in front of the National Civil Rights Museum and Graceland, and then on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry,” Grant said. “As people return to town after all of their summer adventures, we're excited to get caught up and welcome any new faces who would like to see what we're like." 

In the event of rain, activities will be held indoors.
