John Wesley, founder of
the Methodist Church, traveled throughout Great Britain on horseback and preached
42,000 sermons.  Actor Roger Nelson
travels throughout the world on an airplane bringing John Wesley back to life
for his audiences.  He has given over
1400 performances in 32 countries and all 50 states, including venues like
Carnegie Hall, the Pasadena Playhouse, Shakespeare Centre at
Stratford-Upon-Avon, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Stratford Festival Theatre in
Canada, Oxford University, and Wesley’s Chapel in London.  Other international performances include the
following cities: Adelaide, Athens, Bangkok, Belfast, Berchtesgaden, Bonn, Brisbane,
Cairo, Canberra, Caracas, Dubai, Dublin, Geneva, Glasgow, Guatemala City,
Heidelberg, Jerusalem, Kuwait City, Livorno, Melbourne, New Delhi, Nurnberg,
Panama City, Paris, Perth, Port of Spain, Prague, San Jose (C.R.), Singapore,
Sydney, Tel Aviv, and many others.  The Man From Aldersgate, adapted
directly from the Journals of John Wesley by playwright Brad L. Smith, won an
Angel award at the Religion in Media’s awards.
Mr. Nelson won the Best Actor award from the International Christian
Visual Media.

The late United
Methodist Bishop William R. Cannon said: “When Roger Nelson is dressed in 18th-century
garb, with the powdered wig, he looks exactly the way Mr. Wesley looked as seen
from his portraits.  His knowledge of
Wesley is remarkable, and he holds his audience spellbound.  I have never seen anything done any better,
and I have seen many dramatic presentations, some by some of the best actors in
Great Britain and the United States.
Really his performance is worth an audition in the White House.”

Mr. Nelson has appeared
in films and television commercials.  His
other state credits include roles in such plays as Butterflies Are Free, Chapter Two, Plain and Fancy, The Prime of Miss
Jean Brody,
and The Three Sisters.
