"Toons For Ten" Fundraiser for Greenwich Music & Art Camp

Cartooning Program Celebrates 10 Years with Fundraiser for Music & Art Camp

The Greenwich Cartooning Chronicles after school program is hosting its first fundraiser, entitled “Toons For Ten,” (www.ToonsForTen.com) to raise camper scholarships for the Greenwich Music & Art Camp's 2014 season.  The event, which is free for all participants and co-sponsored by Town of Greenwich, will take place on May 17th from 1:00-3:00pm at Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd, Old Greenwich, CT.  The goal of this fundraiser is to provide 10 camper scholarships while also celebrating 10 years of drawing toons in town.  To commemorate the occasion, The Greenwich Cartooning Chronicles is publishing a special edition of the newsletter’s 10th issue to be distributed free of charge at the event.  The latest issue features new comic strips and character drawings from over 100 local contributing student artists ranging from 6 to 14 years old.

The “Toons For Ten” fundraiser will feature cartoon art on display drawn by students from over 15 schools and organizations, including Central Middle School, Cos Cob School, Eastern Middle School, Glenville School, Greenwich Music & Art Camp, Greenwich High School, Greenwich Catholic School, International School at Dundee, Julian Curtiss School, New Lebanon School, North Street School, Old Greenwich/Riverside Community Center, Parkway School, Riverside School, Western Middle School, Winward School, and Whitby School.  Over 200 students and local artists are expected to attend the fundraiser on May 17th.

This event will feature free activities for all ages donated by various local sponsors.  Contributions to the “Toons For Ten” event include painting stations by Painting With a Twist, character drawing by Greenwich Cartooning Chronicles, food by Garden Catering, décor by Avon Theatre, costumed characters by Beyond Costumes, music & entertainment by Huddle Up Sports, prizes by Vineyard Vines and Greenwich YMCA, photography by Jack Dog Studio, printing by Minuteman Press of Greenwich, event planning by Golden Events, funding by A.G. Williams Painting Company and Orthopedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS), staff by Greenwich Music & Art Camp, and venue by Town of Greenwich.
