The Legendary Mariano Rivera Attains Baseball Supremacy

Mariano Rivera earns record 602nd save.

On Monday, September 19th, 2011, the great Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees became the all time saves leader with 602 games, surpassing Trevor Hoffman's recently set mark of 601. This is just another in a long line of accomplishments by the remarkable Number 42 (the only man still wearing the now retired number worn by the late, great Jackie Robinson ).

The saves total only cements and buttrusses what fans and baseball people have known for several years now. That is, the five-time world champion is the greatest relief pitcher the game has ever known. So, a tip of the cap goes out to the Panamanian Superman, a great Yankee destined to become immortalized in the halls of that place we all know and love called Cooperstown. Long live Mariano Rivera, and long live the legend he has given us.
