Earth Day - Clean Up & Hawk Release - Greenwich Land Trust (FREE)

The (GLT) has scheduled a nature preserve beautification event for Earth Day – FRIDAY (note new date due to rain forecast for SUNDAY), April 27 from 1-4PM.  Volunteer Outside to celebrate Earth Day –  location is just BEFORE 610 Round Hill Road (Meadow on left if driving north)

All are invited to join the GLT for a free Earth Day beautification event. Three separate properties protected over the course of 14 years, comprise the 30-acre greenway site of the Earth Day event. Volunteers will plant native bushes, help remove trash and invasive species, and are encouraged to 'dress to mess' by wearing sturdy shoes and work gloves. 

“Earth Day is a great opportunity to get outside with your loved ones and enjoy the land that the GLT protects,” said Kara H. Whelan, Director of Community Outreach for the GLT.  “Volunteers of all ages can explore and beautify the GLT’s Millbank-Greene-DeVegvar greenway.  This year we’re really excited to be offering live music, refreshments, and a wildlife release to mark this special occasion.”

When the land stewardship work is done, volunteers will gather in the meadow for light refreshments a hawk release.  “Planet Saver” t-shirts (made from recycled materials rescued from landfills) will be distributed to volunteers, while supplies last.  The GLT is grateful to Outdoor Traders, The Care of Trees, Serendipity Magazine, Kenai Sports, and Wildlife in Crisis for their support of Earth Day at the GLT.  For more information about GLT’s Earth Day beautification event visit GLTRUST.ORG or call 203.629.2151.

Earth Day revenue supports the Greenwich Land Trust’s ongoing work to acquire more land for permanent protection and to provide care and maintenance of the 733 acres it currently protects.
