Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend Just Around the Corner

Downtown will soon be overrun by holiday fun when the 5th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll arrives in a few short weekends.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, Downtown Greenwich will be filled with horse drawn carriage rides, live singing performances, professional ice sculpture demonstrations, bouncy castles, a food truck village, and more than 100 Greenwich merchants and restaurants. And parking will be free all weekend!

Santa of course will make a special appearance with his live reindeer, who will actually arrive in town on Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. during the official kicking off of the 5th Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Workshop, hosted at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center. Running from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24, $5 of every photo package purchased during the Holiday Stroll Weekend will be donated to Kids in Crisis. There will also be a Giving Tree for Kids in Crisis at McArdle’s throughout the month-long festival.

"This event is a terrific way to start the holiday season and to showcase our beautiful town and its wonderful stores and restaurants," said First Selectman Peter Tesei. "Now in its fifth year, it’s become an annual tradition that the community looks forward to."

A family snowman-making art workshop at the Greenwich Arts council, a horse petting station in front of Wine Wise, sales and exhibitions will all be added to the event this year, as will the food truck village made up of eight different offerings on East Putnam in front of C. Parker Gallery and in the Board of Education parking lot on Greenwich Avenue. Snow globe crafting will take place in Urban Outfitters and a number of retailers will be participating in assisting children with writing letters to Santa.

"It’s amazing to see how the event has grown and how much enthusiasm has been generated for the town," said Sheila May of Therese Saint Clair, which has been participating for the past five years.
