Greenwich Resident Elected to Connecticut Red Cross Board


Greenwich resident Roger Pilc has been elected to the board of directors of the American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter.

Pilc is executive vice president and chief innovation officer at Pitney Bowes. American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region CEO Mario Bruno said in a statement that Pilc’s skills will be instrumental on the Red Cross Board of Directors. “Roger has strong management and technology experience that will help us to operate efficiently and exploit new technologies to meet service delivery needs in Connecticut. Roger will help us in delivering service of the highest quality.”

Bruno said Pilc joins a board that provides support and guidance to the Red Cross in Connecticut. “We are fortunate to have the help of these extraordinary leaders who lend their expertise and time to build community resilience in Connecticut.”

Pilc leads worldwide engineering, strategic technology and innovation, enterprise growth initiatives and technology alliances for Pitney Bowes. Previously, he was chief operating officer at enterprise management software company SMARTS, which was purchased by EMC. Pilc was also chief executive officer of Whale Communications, a security software vendor, which was purchased by Microsoft.

Pilc also built and ran the division of WinStar Communications responsible for internet services, web hosting, Application Service Provider solutions, web development, and IT professional services.

He has also held other management positions in the telecommunications industry and as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. 

Pilc received Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Cornell University, a Master of Science from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. He is a resident of Greenwich.

The American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter is headquartered in Farmington with offices and training sites across the state and has more than 3,000 volunteers.
