GG Hamps: Can't Wait For Tate's!

Join in on the fun with GG as she visits one of her favorite bakery's in SH (SH=Southampton, obvi) Check out the website for more pics and info! www.thegreenwichgirl.com

After discovering that the pantry reserve of Starbucks coffee beans was carelessly
left empty and even the secret stash tucked behind the GG cookie jar was gone,
my suspicion flag was raised high-I was ready to investigate but first I needed
a Starbucks zap. After checking the AroundMe app and getting frustrated with
the lengthy response time given the lack of service in the Hamps, I decided to
ask around and heard through the grapevine that the closest Starbucks is
apparently in Hampton Bays (canNOT be true-dear God) or East Hampton which I
was not in the mood to drive to. So, I decided that I would zip into SH
(SH=Southampton) and pop into my fav bake shop a little earlier than usual. I
was in a peaceful little bubble as I cherished my perfectly heated no foam
latte and a freshly baked gluten-free blueberry muffin while sitting at one of
the bistro tables outside of none other than Tate's Bakery. As the early
morning buzz began to unravel, one by one all sorts of customers (some of whom
are referred to as 'citiots') began to make their way in. To my delight most
were wearing either all pastels OR all whites as bags of homemade donuts,
sticky buns, croissants, baguettes, cookies and cupcakes went whizzing by.
After having my chair swatted by the third bag of a 'rushed' customer, I
remained calm and didn't get miffed as I silently reminded myself that Tate's
deliciousness is always worth going against my usual 'stay at home base as much
as possible' GG rule of thumb when in the Hamps. But as I was making my way
towards the car I caught a glimpse of these adorable, colorful little cupcake
and ice cream cone cocktail napkins that threw me into near cardiac arrest from
over excitement and my body motion into immediate reverse. Now walking back
towards the entrance at a rapid pace, nearly tackling the petite brunette in a
sweater set and apologizing as I continued towards the door, I couldn't help
myself.  Going against ALL self-constraint I re-entered Tate's with the intention of buying ONE package ofcupcake ice cream cocktail napkins. Well, ten minutes and three shopping bags later (yes three) I suddenly found myself with not only five bags of their infamous cookies, but with seven packages of cocktail napkins (completely unnecessary) and two homemade raspberry and blackberry pies for dessert tonight. As if that weren't enough, I managed to stuff in ten boxes of
'sparklers', four boxes of pastel colored candles and a few dozen individually
wrapped watermelon cookies and others that were in the form of the sun wearing
sunglasses...how can you NOT buy sunglass wearing sunshine cookies?! You can't. It's impossible. Needless to say, I nearly cleaned them out of CN's
(CN=cocktail napkins) and am now in a situation where I have so many CN's that
I am left with NO choice other than to have a BBQ with mandatory participation
in the custom made slip and slide ...and a pinyada (we all know I have been
wanting a pinyada all summer and it is now time to make it rain bazooka and
blow pops) -someone has to put these things to use! As for the cookies and
other misc items just consider them to be a part of the standard GG Goody bag
upon exit.
