Everyone knows how much I love the local fairs. I practically live for them. But if I am going to tell you how it really is then its time I admit something — it isn't reallllllly about the cotton candy or the caramel apples, it isn't even about the water gun games (even though I love to get the presents, I mean prizes.) It isn't even about the beer or the wine garden (though they do make wonderful additions). What it's really about is the music: The Local Talent.

Dedicating songs tonight to newlyweds Matt and Katie Watson, the band, aka 'Local Talent', takes the crowd at the St. Roch's fair by storm and carries us safely thru the night that was supposed to be full of exactly that — storms. But as fate would have it, the clouds cleared and, as if directly from the angels above, graced us, and the stage, with who other than the best group our little gem could have EVER produced = LT. (LT=Local Talent, obvi.) Playing everything from Springstein to the Allman brothers this amazing, overly engaging group of local guys (who happen to be some of my personal fav guys in town, some the most eligible bachelors, and some married, sorry ladies) have a way of getting the entire crowd involved.

With fans circling the stage — consisting of all ages from toddlers to senior citizens- their eclectic sound is anything but ordinary. As the GGG's (GGG=Greenwich Girl Grandmas and Grandpas, obvi) clap their hands and get euphoric with excitement, even the babies, who are strapped into their strollers and are barely old enough to move, are bobbing their heads to LT's contagious beat. Certainly straying far from what anyone would expect at a local fair, LT's flare and unique sound not only impress' the unassuming visitors, but it has generated an entire (and impressingly large, and yes impressingly is now a word bc I said so) following.

Six guys having a ball on stage and sounding like total rock stars (looking like it too, but let's not get distracted), between the dancing and the excitement it's no wonder we aren't in Madison Square Garden waving our glow sticks around and cheer-sing our Dixie cups full of beer. All I know is sounding like this, and being as adorable as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if MSG were in fact the next stop on their GPS. (Calling all agents!!!) What's even more amazing is that after every single song, literally, the crowd cheers at an almost alarmingly high volume with anticipation of what's next as the patrolling police officers on duty try to keep the crowds calm-yet the band still remains cooly modest... and once again, the audience goes even more wild. All the way up to the last minute of their performance, the point at which people would usually be leaving, everyone is instead secured in their seats secretly hoping for more as they remain focused on the memorizing sound that only Local Talent could provide. And (obviously) I am not the least bit surprised.

On a night that was supposed to be filled with rain and thunderstorms, I can't help but think that only a crowd pleasing phenomenon such as LT would be able to convince even Mother Nature to hold off. Not to sound like a groupy (fine, I totally am one and, yes, I do shamelessly love you guys, I admit it) but seriously TGFLT. (Thank God For Local Talent, duh.) Check them out on Facebook and stay tuned for the deets (deets=details) on their next show, clearly you won't want to miss it. xx Greenwich Girl.

Ps: As if they weren't cute enough as it is, they even go overtime. I mean, really?! Talk about a Saturday night! Bada bing! -LDM Sent (with love, obvi) from my amazingly adorable iPad. xx In Greenwich since 1986. www.thegreenwichgirl.com
