Greenwich Historical Society Honors Volunteers!

100 volunteers saluted at Bush-Holley House for a variety of contributions.

A celebration of volunteers organized by board member Pat Dillon and staffer Marilyn Myers was held on the evening of May 23, 2012, where 100 volunteers were saluted for the many and varied ways they support the .

Retiring Green Team member Joan Faust was named Volunteer of the Year for her tireless efforts to maintain and improve the landscape at Bush-Holley Historicsite. For over 10 years, she has worked to develop and preserve the historicperiod gardens, keeping them both beautiful and true to their art-colony origins.

Ellen Funck, outgoing co-chair of the Education Committee, was saluted for contributions to the committee's varied initiatives for children and adults, especially her role in the successful development of the Hamilton Avenue Magnet School-Museum Partnership, a program that enables students to make more personal connections with the history and art of their community.

Roxanne Vanderbilt and Mimi Moulton were acknowledged as outgoing Antiquarius House Tour co-chairs. Each served for two years bringing exceptional organizational skills, creative new ideas and a significant number of newvolunteers into the fold.

Special thanks was accorded to the Junior League of Greenwich, represented by outgoing president Anne Miller, for community collaboration in developing a new family tour for National Landmark Bush-Holley House that will debut in the fall.

The culmination of the event was a stand-up performance by comedienne and board member Bonnie Levison, who contrasted the successful contributions of all in attendance with a hilarious and cautionary tale of youthful volunteerism gone wrong.
