Wishing Our Veterans a Happy Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day, show our veterans they are always in our thoughts by creating valentines that will be delivered to vets' organizations in the Fourth District.

As part of our continued commitment to caring for our nation’s veterans, I am pleased to announce my third annual “Valentines for Vets” project.  This Valentine’s Day, I invite you and your children to show our veterans that they are always in our thoughts by creating valentines that will be delivered to our local VA hospital, to Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, and to various other veterans' service organizations in the Fourth District.

Students from over 40 elementary schools in the Fourth District participated in last year’s “Valentines for Vets” project, making the program a huge success. Click here to watch video coverage of this terrific event. I have seen how appreciative veterans are when someone sincerely thanks them for their service and know they were incredibly grateful for the many beautiful cards they received.  Our goal is to make this year’s project even bigger, so I hope you will encourage your children or other young people you know to join in this effort.

If your child or their school would like to participate in this year’s "Valentines for Vets" program, please call Peter Yazbak in my Bridgeport office at (866) 453-0028. Or, valentines may be mailed to or dropped off at either of my district offices (addresses below) by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
