Apple's Latest Announcement - Whats New?

See what's new with Apples latest announcement.

With Apple's latest announcement there were a few surprising releases and a few that were really impressive. Let's take a look at what was announced.

With the Mac computer line-

- Apple introduced the new 13” MacBook Pro Retina Display and its is thinner, lighter, and faster than its non retinal display partner but it is also more expensive. There is no CD drive in it as they are becoming less and less necessary these days, and they have added an HDMI port to the side for fast and easy connection to a HD tv which is really nice for presentations.

-They also introduced an updated Mac Mini (not an iPad mini but a Mac Mini) which is also upgraded to be much faster with bigger hard drive storage options. A really nice low cost option for students or families.

- The big surprise of the day was also the most beautiful.  The new redesigned 21 and 27 inch iMacs. They are 80% thinner than the current iMacs and again much faster with bigger hard drives. If you get a chance go to Apples website and take a look, it is really quite impressive, Apple iMac. Apple even came out with a new style of hard drive called a Fusion drive that we will discuss in a separate blog. Its a new style of drive that makes the computer faster in how it runs your applications and how it stores your data.

With the iPad family

- The new iPad mini was displayed and it will come in 6 different models both wifi and cellular models will be available starting November 2nd. It is almost the same as the current iPad just smaller.

- The confusing part of the announcement yesterday was the updated iPad that will be replacing the pervious iPad that was called, “The new iPad” by Apple. Apple now offers the iPad 2, the iPad with retina display, and the iPad mini. They just released an updated iPad 6 months ago that is now being updated to the iPad with retina display and it has Apples new lightning connector. All of this is rather confusing so the simplest way to think of it is that there is an new iPad mini which is 7”, the iPad 2 which came out last year, and the iPad with retinal display which was announced yesterday and will be available November 2nd at the stores.

These were the big updates but there were some other smaller announcements like a wonderful new update to your iBooks app, iBooks Author, Final Cut Pro, and Motion.
