How to Securely Empty your Trash on your Mac

How to empty your trash on your Mac.

Have you ever had a file on your desktop with your social security number, credit card number, date of birth, and drivers license number in it and wanted to delete it knowing that your information was REALLY gone? Or have you ever had a file in the trash that was "in use" by an application and just wouldn't go away? There is an easy way to get rid of those files safely and securely, so no one can get them off of your drive, and make them unrecoverable by any normal means.

Securely emptying the trash is a very good way to do this. To securely empty the trash on your Mac, simply click the happy face in the far left hand side of your dock, click Finder in the upper left hand corner of your display, and then click "Secure Empty Trash" in the menu below the word Finder.

Voila, now your trash is securely emptied, and your files are securely deleted. No more worrying about someone finding your private personal information and stealing your identity!
