Lexus Attempts to Intimidate Town Officials Over Regional Repair Facility

Lexus applies its muscle behind the scenes to get it's proposed regional repair center approved.

Lexus attorneys and engineers are now trying to intimidate
the Town into reversing its ruling requiring that the proposed Lexus regional repair center comply with the Towns established building standards—requiring that the Lexus facility has ramps with no more than an 8-degree grade.

Background:

To comply with the Planning and Zoning Department’s “Lot
Coverage” requirements Lexus must keep the footprint of their giant auto repair building as small as possible. Therefore, Lexus engineers designed their building ramps with a steep 10o pitch, resulting in a smaller
footprint but exceeding the Towns required standard of 8o for
building ramps.

Now, Lexus expects the Town’s Engineering Division to grant Lexus
an “exception” from the Town’s building regulations.  Skipping the
Engineering Division entirely, Lexus surrogates took their case right to the Public Works Commissioner who then ruled, reasonably I think, that ramps used by the general public must comply with the 8o standard, but ramps used by Lexus employees only, could have a 10o grade. (How the Town could ever enforce this ruling is another matter?)

So now the Lexus team is fuming that they didn’t get all of what they want!  Consequently Lexus attorneys and engineers are scouring the Town to find instances where the 8% standard hasn’t been applied elsewhere,
so they can bully the Town to granting an exception in their case. If Lexus is required to comply with the current Public Works Department ruling, they could be forced to redesign the whole structure!

Will Town officials crumble under the onslaught of Lexus intimidation
tactics? Stay tuned.
