Barbara Johnson Hatch, 91; Active in Junior League for 50 Years

A Greenwich resident, Mrs. Hatch was involved in the Junior League and other organizations for more than 50 years.


Barbara Johnson Johnson Hatch, of Greenwich, passed on Tuesday night. She was 91.

Born Oct. 26, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Edna Lillian VanRiper and William A. Johnson.

Mrs. Hatch, a resident of Greenwich, for 50 years, was active in the community. She was a member of the Junior League for more than 50 years, the Pelham Manor Club, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, the Greenwich Country Club and Indian Harbor Yacht Club.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne J. Howard of Greenwich, and R. Sheldon Johnson of Naples, FL, and their spouses Henry Howard and Virginia H. Johnson; four grandchildren, Kristin H. Johnson of NY, NY, Robert S. Johnson of London, England, Henry Howard III of Paris, France, and Ashley V. McKinley of Burlington, VT and five great-grandchildren.

Her husbands Robert S. Johnson and E. Franklin Hatch predeceased her.

A family service will be held at a later date.
