Christopher D. Webster, 87; Decorated WWII Veteran, Lifelong Greenwich Resident

Christopher Donald Webster, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Greenwich Hospital after a brief illness. 

Born Dec. 2, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Rose Webster, and was a lifelong resident of Greenwich. He was the third of five siblings: William, Vera, Ann and Sally. Christopher was married to the late Barbara Ann Ramsey of Greenwich for 31 years. 

Christopher was a decorated World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1949, participating in the D-Day liberation of Normandy. He also served in the U.S Army during the Korean conflict, from 1950 through 1952. After his military service, Christopher worked for Northeast Utilities for over 35 years, as a lineman and supervisor. 

Christopher loved road trips with his family, especially visiting his dear Aunt Sarah and the Maloney family in Ontario. He also enjoyed boating, woodworking and music, with a nod to Celtic and country. He was skilled in most building trades, mastering in electrical work. 

Chris' life cannot be measured in silver or gold, but by the love and respect he has from family and friends, and the legacy of accomplishments from his military service and employment. His family will forever cherish the love, dedication and life lessons that Chris provided to all of his loved ones. 

Christopher is survived by his sister, Sally Yates of Texas; his children, Valerie Webster of Texas, Christopher Webster of Riverside, Wade Webster of California, and MaryBeth Webster and Kelly Webster, both of Cos Cob. He is also survived by his beloved ten grandchildren – Christopher, Patrick, Rebecca, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Miranda, Sara, Shane, Ashley and Isabella, great-grandson Jack and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11 at the Leo. P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
