Eileen "Nell" Burke, 99; Lifelong Greenwich Resident

Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, with the funeral set for Thursday, April 3.

Eileen "Nell" Waterbury Burke of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014. She was 99.

She was born in Greenwich, to Rose Seery and Harrison Waterbury on Oct. 2, 1914.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Burke Siemon of Riverside, Thomas C. Burke Jr. and wife Kathleen of Cos Cob, Brian H. Burke and wife Bonnie of Madison; former son-in-law Stephen A. McCabe of Rye, NY, former daughter-in-law Joan Chiapetta Burke of Rowayton; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; niece Eileen W. Freebairn of Bethel, nephew Harrison Waterbury and his wife Geraldine of Sandy Hook, and their families.

She was the widow of Thomas C. Burke, a retired Deputy Police Chief of Greenwich, and her brother, Harrison Waterbury Jr., retired Fire Chief of Cos Cob.

A wake will be held on Wednesday, April 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 247 Stanwich Rd., Greenwich. A reception will follow at the church.
