George 'Bud' Murray, 84; Architect Who Designed UST Headquarters


George Francis "Bud" Murray, of Cos Cob, passed away on Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 84.

He was born July 12, 1929 in Yonkers, NY, the son of the late George and Helen (Hyde) Murray.

Mr. Murray served in both the Army and the Air Force and enjoyed a long, accomplished career.

Mr. Murray began his career with Eggers & Higgins architectural firm and during that time, oversaw the design and construction of several buildings and hospitals in the New York City area. In 1969, he joined UST, Inc. and was responsible for the architectural design and construction of the Greenwich headquarters at 100 West Putnam Ave., two wineries in Washington State and manufacturing facilities in Nashville, Chicago, and Scotland.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Murray; their children Cathy (Bill) Horn, Cindy (David) Schutzman, Connie Murray, Michael Murray, George Murray and Caroline (Bradley) Mock, and his grandchildren: Kelly Horn, Caitlin Jenkins, Daniel Schutzman, Kristen Jenkins, Rob Horn, Brian Schutzman, Sutton Mock, Sterling Mock, Winston Mock and Summit Mock. He is also survived by his two sisters Helen (George) Usher and Carol (John)
Russo.

He was predeceased by his brother Edward Murray, and his son Dennis Murray.

The family has requested that the services be private.
