Obituaries for Aug. 14

Marcel J. Heins, 85, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Albany Memorial Hospital with his loving wife and daughter at his side.

He was born June 2, 1927 in Cohoes, the eldest child of the late Napoleon and Ida Lemieux Heins.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retiree of the former Al-Tech Specialty Steel Co.  Marcel had many hobbies including gardening and woodcarving. He was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle solver, and an avid New York Yankees fan.

He is survived by his wife Anna, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Aug. 5, 2012, and their daughter Barbara Heins of Greenwich, CT, editor of Greenwich Patch. He also is survived by his sister, Lucille West of Latham, NY and brothers Paul of Novi, Mich., Robert of Calabash, NC, and Raymond of Cohoes, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Paul.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 from 11:00-12 Noon at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon, following the visitation at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Memory’s Gardens in Colonie.
