Obituary: David Curcio, 92; Decorated WWII Veteran, Postal Service Retiree

David A. Curcio, in Greenwich passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a short illness. He was 92.

Born Jan. 4, 1921, he was the son of the late Luigi and Carmella Siciliano Curcio of Cos Cob.

He graduated from Greenwich High School and Wright Technical School.

Mr. Curcio was a World War II veteran and served active duty as a Sergeant Platoon Leader in D-Day and the Battle of Saint Lo. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. Mr. Curcio spent 42 years with the United States Postal Service in Greenwich. He and his wife owned and operated Donna's Delicatessen for 15 years. He accomplished many things in his life and spent numerous years managing his properties. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially around the holidays, and listening to his favorite music. 

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Angelina Braccio Curcio. 

Mr. Curcio is survived by two daughters, Carmie Budkins (John) and Donna Horton (Peter), both of Greenwich, and, a sister, Yolanda Moccia of Stamford. He also is  survived by five grandchildren: John Budkins Jr., Jackie Budkins, David Budkins (Eve), Judy Weaver (Brian), and Gary Horton (Carolyn) as well as eight great-grandchildren: William, James, Petie, Ellie, Lianna, Maddie, Sophia, Chloe and another great-grandson expected in October.

He also was predeceased by a sister Theresa Powell and brother Anthony (Andy) Curcio. 

Family and friends may call at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday July 7.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, at St. Roch Church. Internment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich.
