Obituary: Frank Velez, 79; Long-time Greenwich Resident

Frank Velez, died Saturday, July 13 of respiratory failure at Greenwich Hospital, with his family at his side. his passing was due to . Frank was the beloved husband of Eufemia Velez who survives him today. The two shared and cherished 42 years of joyful marriage and indelible memories. He was 79.

Born April 5, 1934 in New York City, he was the son of the late Amado and Ida Velez.

After being raised in New York City, Frank moved here and soon met Eufemia. They married 42 years ago and established their home in Greenwich where they subsequently raised their two sons, James and Jeffrey Velez. 

Mr. Velez happily spent the following four decades in Greenwich living on Pemberwick Road. Throughout his life here, he spread his kindness, generosity, laughter and love to his family, neighbors and friends. He was a one-of-a-kind man with a remarkable ability to make everyone around him smile, feel comfortable and loved.

He is survived by his wife Eufemia; their son James and his wife Melissa Velez with their sons Logan and Jackson; their son Jeff and his wife Janel Apuna and their sons Jameson, Cameron, Brandon, and Grayson Velez. He is also survived by his sister Linda Rodriguez of New York City, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Velez was predeceased by his brothers Amado Jr., Robert, and Gerald Velez.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Sacred Heart Church, Henry Street, Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich.
