Obituary: Michael Koch, 49; Former Riverside Resident

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.


Michael W. Koch, a former Riverside resident, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, with his family by his side. He was 49.

Born in Clovis, NM on May 6, 1964, he was the son of Beverly J. Riggi of Cos Cob and Fred R. Koch of New Canaan.

Mr. Koch was raised in Riverside, where he attended Greenwich High School. He moved to the Portland area of Maine 10 years ago. He was an avid NY Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan. He loved to fish, spend time at the beach, especially Tod's Point, and listen to U2. He was a talented cook, and enjoyed creating amazing dishes to share with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters Vicki Barbera and her husband of Ridgewood, NJ, and Michelle Koch of New Canaan; his brother F. Richard Koch and his wife of Weston; and many nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at St. Catherine of Siena Church (Chapel), 4 Riverside Ave, Riverside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to: Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1 Ste 1, Scarborough, ME 04074-9925.
