Teresa Modafferi, 90; Cos Cob Homemaker Who Enjoyed Gardening, Cooking
Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 with the funeral set for Wednesday, April 9.
Teresa Modafferi passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2014. She was 90.
She was born to Giovanni and Nicolina Franco in Reggio Calabria, Italy on May 19, 1923.
She immigrated to Cos Cob with her husband Demetrio Modafferi and four daughters in 1963. Mrs. Modafferi was a homemaker who loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family, especially her five grandchildren.
Mrs. Modafferi is survived by her four daughters, Nicolina Modafferi, Maria Modafferi, Catherine Hallinan (Henry), and Bruna Fitzsimons (James), and her grandchildren Christine, Allison and James Fitzsimons, and Kelly and Henry Hallinan.
She was predeceased by her husband Demetrio in 1977.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 8, at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
