Theresa 'Terry' Pye Wilson, 84; Greenwich Library Welcome Desk Employee

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22.

From Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home

Theresa "Terry" (Pye) Wilson passed away with family at her side on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014. She was 84.

She was born in Flushing, NY on April 30, 1929 to Frank and Josephine Pye.

She moved to Greenwich as a young girl and attended St. Mary's and Greenwich Public schools with the class of 1947.

She married Bill Wilson and raised their four children in Glenville, where they owned and operated the New Beagle Inn for many years. She touched many people through various jobs she held after closing the Beagle, including the junior department of The Dress Box, and as the hostess at The Horseneck Tavern. She was the familiar friendly face behind the service counter of Toyota of Greenwich, always answering the phone with that sultry voice. Mrs. Wilson retired from Toyota at age 65 and took a job at Greenwich Library at the Welcome Desk where she warmly welcomed patrons (both new and old friends) every weekday until retirement about a year and a half ago.

Mrs. Wilson was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and her family ties in County Tyrone, Ireland. She had an extraordinary sense of humor (often catching people off guard); she was the life of any party and especially enjoyed a great meal, a drink and gathering with family and friends. Some of her favorite things were reading, cooking, animals, music and dancing, trips to Island Beach and above all else, her family. Her quick wit and warm personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her children, Ginger Phelps (Danny), Bonnie Cassone, and Warren Wilson (Jayne); her grandchildren Meaghan, Jason, Sean, Betsey, Erica, Brooke, Patrick and Will; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Max.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill and son Scott.

A mass of celebration will be held at St. Mary Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 followed by a gathering at The Greenwich Boat & Yacht Club. There will be no calling hours as her wishes were to have a mass and a "party" to celebrate her life. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to Neighbor to Neighbor, The Nathaniel Witherell, or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
