When: Kick-off Friday, September 30; 7 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. (The monthly chess program will be held on the first Friday of the month starting November 4.)

Why Go: Greenwich Library is pleased to reintroduce a monthly chess program with National Master Rich Jackson, who will  provide instruction and supervise play.

U Build It Lego Time - , 5 Sinawoy Rd., Cos Cob; 203-622-6883

When: Saturday, October 1;  12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Community Room of the Cos Cob Library.

Why Go: Come drop in and create something wonderful with our Legos. We'll photograph your creations before you return them to the bins for the next time. All children 3 years of age and older are welcome. Smaller children under the age of 3 may come if supervised by an adult. Families are welcome to work on a project together, too!

49th Annual Model Sailboat Regatta - Binney Park, Old Greenwich, CT.

When: Sunday, October 2; 1 p.m. measuring in; 1:50 p.m. Skippers meeting; 2 p.m. First races

Why Go: unlimited entriesdivisions range from homemade to motorboats. Register at park on day of event. Volunteers welcome! Contact the office for additional information.

Pricing: $5 per family

When: Sunday, October 2; 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (rain or shine)

Why Go: The 9th annual Big Rig Gig is a fun-filled day allows kids of all ages to experience their favorite BIG trucks like never before.  In addition to climbing on these larger-than-life trucks, children will have the opportunity to go on rides, play exciting games, enjoy musical entertainment and much, much more. Proceeds to benefit OPUS for Person-to-Person.

Pricing: $30 in advance and $40 at the door per family. Tickets may be purchased at www.opus4p2p.org. Those who purchase prior to the event will be entered into an exclusive raffle with the opportunity to win an exciting prize.

Why Go: A family-friendly, green-themed celebration of the amazing raptor migration occurring above the Audubon Greenwich center each Fall. This special event will feature kids activities, great eco-friendly food & businesses on display, and of course, the famous live birds of prey shows (at 1 & 3 pm) presented by “Talons: A Bird of Prey Experience." Save the dates and please pass the word to friends in the region.

Pricing: Festival Admission: $7 for youth/$10 for adults (Current or new Audubon members pay only: $5 for youth / $7 for adults.)
