Letter: Camillo 'Is a Voice for All People'

By Julia Chiappetta

When I read Mr. Goldrick’s recent column pointing out differences between State Rep. Fred Camillo and his challenger David Rafferty, I was saddened by the level of spin and finger pointing. It is clear that Mr Goldrick is a friend of Mr Rafferty, which is fine, I too am a friend of Rep. Camillo, but I would not serve him well if I cited anything other truth.

Rep. Camillo is one of the hardest working guys I know; always on the scene, eager to help anyone in need and pets too! He has been endorsed by CBIA (Connecticut Business & Industry Assoc), NFIB (National Federation Independent Business), The Realtors Association, Uniformed Fire Fighters Association CT and received a perfect score from CBIA, thus combining labor and business organization, complimenting his work ethic. Legislatively he introduced the Volunteer Protection & Identification Act, perhaps the strongest volunteer protection law in the US, worked to include “Learn Here, Live Here” legislation in the 2011 Jobs Bill and was at the forefront to bring Single Stream Recycling to Greenwich, as the first advocate working with town officials.  Add to that his work on many other bills, some of which are now law, one must agree that Fred serves us well. So I ask Mr. Goldrick for comparisons on this level.

In closing, I point to a sobering fact: the Democrats have controlled the CT House for 35+ years, 8 as super majority. Based on their track record of higher taxes and unemployment, crowded highways, economic failures, residents & businesses fleeing our state, do we really need more democrats making the same lousy decisions, spending our money and passing laws that conflict with our values?

Fred Camillo is a voice for all people and the clear choice Nov 6.
