Letter: Camillo 'Has A Passion for Greenwich and Its Citizens'

I urge your support for Fred Camillo, 151st District State Representative.

For the few who do not know Fred, let me provide you some background.  Fred Camillo grew up in Greenwich (Cos Cob section) and went through the Public School System. He has helped run a very successful family business for close to 30 years. During that time, Fred found time to get his Bachelor and teaching degree from Manhattanville College where he graduated summa cum laude and taught history and psychology.

In between work and school, Fred found time to give back to his town. He coached Junior Babe Ruth baseball for four (4) years in the mid-to-late '80s and Western Junior High’s baseball team for two (2) years in 1987 and 1988. After that Fred moved up to coach baseball at Stamford Catholic High School.

If you happen to have children that are now playing baseball, you will now find Fred on the field in a different capacity; not coaching, but umpiring. Fred is known by his peers, both umpires and coaches, as one of the finest umpires in the Town of Greenwich.

Fred also served on the Parks & Recreation Board. One of his major priorities on the Board was to improve Greenwich’s baseball fields. If you have children and have been in Town for a while then you have experienced the tremendous improvements on the baseball diamonds and fields. Fred now sits on the Board of the Old Timer’s Association whose priorities include supporting youth sports in Town. It is one of the Town’s most esteemed organizations.

Fred’s life experiences as small business owner, coach, teacher and board member have allowed him to take this to Harford and become one of the most respected legislators on both “sides of the aisle.” During his short time in Hartford, Fred has sponsored the Volunteer Protection and Indemnification Act and Recycling Bills. He is currently working on legislation regarding Animal Cruelty.

We now know why Fred is so well-liked in Greenwich. He has a passion for Greenwich and its citizens, one that which drives him. His kindness and compassion for helping people is second to none.

This is the reason that so many people cross party lines to support Fred Camillo.  I urge you to support my friend, Fred Camillo for 151st District State Representative.
