Letter: 'Support The Concept of A Permanent Whiffle Ball Field'

By Fred Camillo

To the editor,

Play Ball! We hear that every Summer, on every ball field in town. As the Man in Blue, I have been known to shout it out as much as a few hundred times each year, myself. Now, a determined and growing group of residents would like to hear those words shouted on a different type of field here in Greenwich.

The annual whiffle ball tournament in Greenwich has accelerated the efforts to find a permanent whiffle ball field here in town. The United Way, private sponsors, players, young and old, and community volunteers are all part of this enthusiastic endeavor to give devotees of this popular game a place to call home.

As an attendee of the Summer tournament, I am always impressed by the size of the tourney, the number of spectators, scores of volunteers, and overall commitment to the game itself as well as the goal behind it. I wholeheartedly support the concept of a permanent whiffle ball field here in Greenwich. I hope you agree!

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
